Open Vallejo: ACLU Sends Letter To City of Vallejo Regarding Prohibition of Certain Comments to Council

Open Vallejo has obtained a copy of a letter from the Northern California branch of the ACLU to the City of Vallejo. Mayor Robert McConnell recently unveiled a “new” policy (though it mimics an old one) that allows members of the council to call for order if they feel that a person is being attacked. McConnell asked the public to discuss issues, not people. The ACLU says this is a clear violation of the First Amendment, the Brown Act, and the California Constitution.
