Vallejo Council Unanimously Approves Mask Mandate

The Vallejo City Council has unanimously approved a mask mandate. It begins immediately.

Masks are to be worn indoors or any place open to the public, according to City Attorney Veronica Nebb. Mayor Robert McConnell said that masks can be removed while eating or drinking, however.

McConnell said that only 52.33 percent of Vallejoans are vaccinated. The mandate will remain in effect for at least six weeks, or until over 80 percent of us are vaccinated, he said. The council will revisit the situation in a month and a half.

According to the City of Vallejo, the Delta variant of Covid-19, which is much more contagious, is currently surging in our city and is the dominant strain.
